    BATCH 4
    16th - 27th February 2026

    Introduction

Renewable Energy in particular Wind and Solar has become the mainstay in meeting energy needs having achieved grid parity in term of costs as well as technical requirement. Wind energy has proved a highly successful energy option with installed capacity of over 1 TW worldwide. Earth’s commercially viable wind power potential is estimated to be huge and only very few countries are using wind power at a large scale like USA, European countries and Asian countries - China and India. Even though a good potential of wind is available in many countries, the wind power project is hindered because of the lack of skilled human resources at various stages of deployment.

The National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), an autonomous R&D institute under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India has pioneered in promoting wind Energy in the country. NIWE has been vested with the responsibility of providing complete scientific and technical backing to all stakeholders in the field of wind energy. NIWE’s responsibility is to speed up wind energy development not only in the country but also in the neighbouring region. Decades of concerted efforts have started to yield gratifying results and today, Wind power contributes to about 10.6% (53986.02 MW) of the total Indian energy mix of 509743.09 MW as of November 2025 and stands fourth in terms of installed wind power capacity worldwide. With vast experience, NIWE has an obligation to disseminate the knowledge learnt to foster growth of wind energy across globe. NIWE had so far trained more than 6000 professionals from 102 countries by conducting 154 national and 48 international training courses.

    Vayumitra Skill Development Programme

MNRE has sponsored a project titled “Vayumitra Skill Development Program (VSDP)”. The objective of the programme is to create skilled workforce for the Indian wind energy sector to achieve the Government of India targets. The VSDP courses are in line with the Skill ecosystem of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. VSDP Phase-1, has been completed during 2020-2024, and trained 281 Trainers through 10 Training of Trainers (ToT) courses as well as 2160 Participants through 72 Training of Participants (ToP) courses.

Now NIWE is implementing VSDP Phase — II project to train 900 Participants through 30 ToP Courses in the Wind Farm Engineer Qualification Pack (NSQF Level-5). The ToP programme will be conducted at the identified Training Centres located close to Wind Farms in the following windy states, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh. To train the participants, NIWE will train 210 Trainers through 12 days Training of Trainers (ToT) courses. Both ToP and ToT programmes will be assessed by qualified Assessors and certificates will be provided through Skill India Digital Hub of MSDE, Government of India.

    Training of Trainer (ToT)

NIWE, with the support of the certified Master Trainers will conduct the ToT courses with participants both from the industry and the academia. The main purpose of ToT course is to equip a group of faculty members who will be taking classes for participants of ToP courses to be conducted by training partners at their training centres.  In this context, NIWE has scheduled 7 number of 12 days ToT Courses starting from November 2025 to March 2026. 4th Batch is scheduled to be conducted from 16.02.2026 to 27.02.2026.
